Enfuego’s Picks UFC 255

Disclaimer: Predicting winners of UFC fights is extremely difficult.  There are many factors including weight cuts, personal problems, injuries, bad coaching and other variables that can impact the performance of a fighter and most of the time, we just don’t know these issues before a fight.  I will put a confidence level on each prediction, but I caution you against becoming overconfident in predicting the outcomes of MMA fights.  Bottom line, this is the fight game and anything can happen so tread lightly.

UFC 255:

Katlyn Chookagian 14-4 vs Cynthia Calvillo 9-1-1

To me, the most frustrating thing to watch in MMA is when you bet on a non-grappler against a grappler and the grappler does what they are supposed to do and dominate their opponent on the ground for an easy decision.

This is what we have year when 31-year-old Katlyn Chookagian takes on 33-year-old Cynthia Calvillo.  Recently, we took Jessica Andrade to dominate Chookagian and that’s exactly what she did as we cashed easily.  I see the same thing happening here as the grappling heavy Calvillo will look to take Chookagian down time after time with Chookagian not being able to get off the ground.

If Calvillo can’t take Chookagian down, Chookagian will win this fight by decision because she just strikes more but I don’t bet on things I haven’t seen before and I haven’t seen Katlyn Chookagian stop a takedown and I honestly don’t see a problem here with Cynthia Calvillo cruising to a grappling heavy unanimous decision victory.

Katlyn has been talking for some time about retiring and starting a family.  That’s exactly what she needs to do following this fight.

The Pick: Cynthia Calvillo -250 (4.5 out of 5)

Deiveson Figueiredo+Louis Cosce Parlay -160

I won’t have much to say here other than I believe the “God of War” Deiveson Figueiredo is a killer and will end this against Alex Perez in the 2nd or 3rd round.  He is quick, has hands of steel and I believe he will be the flyweight champ for some time.

Cosce is making his UFC debut and is undefeated with a 100% finish rate which I see him extending here against Sasha Palatnikov.  Again, Cosce has a significant advantage on the ground and I see him taking Palatnikov down repeatedly and gets the KO via ground and pound.

The Pick: Figueiredo+Cosce Parlay -160 (4 out of 5)

LIVE DOGS ON THIS CARD: Tim Means +140, Jared Gooden +130 and Ariane Lipski +140 (Dogs are 6-4-1 YTD+$380)
