Is this the beginning of the YouTube Era of Boxing?
For years and years boxing has been on the decline, but 2020 may have changed that. YouTube stars like Jake and Logan Paul are bringing an insane amount of attention to the sport that’s been considered to be dying for quite some time. With over 32 Million combined followers on Instagram, the Paul brothers are bringing in NUMBERS. The fact that Floyd Mayweather is coming out of retirement for an exhibition match against Logan Paul is all the proof that you need. Floyd is a businessman, he knows what kind of money this will bring in.
As a boxing fan does this piss me off? You’re damn right it does, but if this is what it takes for boxing to get the household attention that it used to then lets go baby. It’s a shame that boxing has gotten to the point where the average person can’t name more than 2-3 active fighters. That kind of shit makes me sad. Let the YouTube Era begin. It’s what the sport needs and it’s what I need as a fan.
