UFC Fight Night: Santos vs Teixeira Main Event and Co-Main Event Preview and Picks

Dlo’s Fight Prediction Record 7-1

Thiago Santos(-240) vs Glover Teixeira (+200)

This is a very important fight for the top of the LHW division. This will likely determine the next title

challenger after Izzy vs Blachowicz. This is also Santos’ first fight back after recovering from his nasty

knee injuries. A lot of people think Santos beat Jones in his last outing, so we will see if he is

able to regain what led him to great success since moving up to the LHW divison. Santos is the

more explosive and athletic fighter, but Glover is a longtime vet of the sport, and is extremely savvy inside the

octagon, as seen in his last fight with Anthony Smith. While it may take Santos a round or 2 to shake off

the rust, I think as the fight goes on, he will gain confidence. He has absolute dynamite in his right hand

and I find it hard to see Glover avoiding it for all 5 rounds… and he has always been suspect against power

punchers. I think Santos connects big in the 3rd Round and ends it.

The Pick: Santos (round 3) KO

Andre Arlovski (+235) vs Tanner Boser (-275)

It’s the old vs new, here in this heavyweight matchup. A long time fan favorite Arlovski takes on the

young gun Tanner Boser who is coming in winning 3 of his last 4 with 2 KO wins. While it would be easy

to take Boser (the younger and more exciting fighter) I am going to take the dog in this fight, Arlovski.

Arlovski has fought anyone and everyone in the heavyweight division over his 20 year career. I think his

experience and much more technical boxing will carry him to victory here. We are talking about the land

of the giants here so all it takes is one haymaker for this fight to be over. So like with any Arlovski fight at

this point in his career it will all come down to how well his chin can hold up. If he can avoid the heavy

leather and keep Boser on the outside, I think he takes a UD. I get why people will pick Boser but when

you really look at it, he has not beat anyone of note and has lost to guys who do not half the skill of

Arlovski.

The Pick: Arlovski UD
