NFL Thursday Night Football: Gambling Pick 2020 Week 1

Football is back and we’re strapping back in for a long gambling season. This is the tone setter and probably the only time you’ll be able to say you’re undefeated, in gambling on football, this year. If you are anything like me, this is a game you look at and you see points. I’m here to tell you that I smell an over.

We open the 2020 season in the great state of Missouri with the 2019 champs vs. the Texans. We’re getting a great quarterback matchup from Mahomes and Watson. This game has a lot of questions marks because just in case you forgot: the Texans have moved on from Watson’s favorite target in Deandre Hopkins, and will be hoping to get a healthy. Will Fuller is involved as the new centerpiece of this offense.

Coming over in the D Hop deal was David Johnson who had a down year in 2019. We will get our first chance to see if he will be returning to his old form as a top flight receiving back in the NFL. Aside from the weapons the Texans have, they will be looking to slow down Chris Jones with what could be a top tier offensive line this year.

But enough about the Texans offense. Let’s turn an eye to the offense that is built on speed and points in KC. Mahomes will be looking to show why he’s worth 500 million fucking dollars by putting up points. The KC offense has picked up some new toys, but ol’ reliable Tyreek Hill and the always entertaining, Travis Kelce are still there. I’m assuming you’ve noticed that I haven’t talked defense yet but just like a nun, I’m not worried about the D. It’s opening day and we haven’t had a chance to see these teams in the preseason just as the opposing defenses haven’t.

I anticipate some sloppy play early for these defenses and the speed of these offenses is not going to be fun for the defenses to keep up with late in games. I’m going to be drinking an ice cold beer of no particular brand because we don’t have an advertiser yet, and watch these two teams cover this over.

My pick: KC/HOU over 54
